Midweek Magic

There was NO turtle activity on the beach today. But there is always something beautiful to look at ! Volunteers captured some of them today - Like this sunrise.

ree

Beach sunflower - also known as Dune sunflower.

Seagull track in the sand , a scoop of Pelicans, and a bowl of Roseate Spoonbills.

Is it a turtle? Is it a manatee? Is it a seal? No, it’s just a palm tree bole!
Is it a turtle? Is it a manatee? Is it a seal? No, it’s just a palm tree bole!

Aside from sounding like a broken record : once again we need to remind everyone …..

There has been reports of people harassing momma turtles on the beach, and disturbing nests. 😡 This must stop.

We need to do better ! 😢

ESA (Endangered Species Act) provides protection for endangered and threatened species including sea turtles and their nests. Federal law PROHIBITS taking, possessing, HARASSING, harming, pursuing, hunting, shooting, wounding, killing, trapping, or capturing sea turtles, their nests, or eggs. Violations of the ESA can result in fines up to $100,000 and even a year in prison !

RESPECT NESTING SEA TURTLES - if you encounter a nesting turtle, observe from a distance, do not use lights , and do not disturb the nest.

REPORT VIOLATIONS.

AND PLEASE : Keep the beach DARK, FLAT, and CLEAN.

Sea you on the beach 🏝️
