Crazy Numbers

Jul 2
1 min read

Tuesday found and secured 7 nests, today was 6. One of the nests in Zone 2, which needed relocating, contained 140 eggs! The Data Czar is going to have a field day with these numbers.

Hot and buggy with several non-turtlers already on the beach this holiday week, things still ran smoothly. I continue to be amazed at the athleticism of these Momma turtles. The number of eggs in each nest, the strong crawls that almost look like buggy tracks, the fact they keep coming! We may have a first boil well before the laying season is through. We finished today with a 181 nest total count so far, with no signs of slowing.

Thanks to all beachgoers for keeping the beach clean, night lights off, and filling in holes when you leave. It helps our work, and more importantly, it helps the turtles work!
