Aloha Storm Chaser Turtle Thursday!

Aug 6
1 min read

Today’s patrol was brought to you by Mother Nature…who apparently forgot to check our schedule! 🤣

About 45 minutes into patrol, the first thunderstorm rolled in with lightning, so we all made a quick retreat and hunkered down. Once the coast was clear, we made a mad dash back to the beach to finish patrol before Round 2 of the storm arrived.

Even Momma Turtle was trying to beat the weather!  She successfully left us

Nest #229

No other nesting or hatching activity was observed, and thankfully our volunteer team escaped the beach before the next storm could claim us as permanent beach decorations. 😆

The best part? Mother Nature must have felt a little guilty for soaking us because she rewarded us with a gorgeous double rainbow between the storms. 🌈🌈

I’d say we earned our unofficial title of “Storm Chasing Turtle Patrol!” Now if someone could teach the thunderstorms that Turtle Thursday starts at sunrise, we’d really appreciate it! 😂
