Lots of activity for Wed volunteers today

There were 5 NNC today. 3 in Zone 2 and 2 in Zone 3. Also found were 3 nests all in Zone 4. Nest # 50 was moved with 89 eggs relocated, nest #51 was left in situ, and nest # 52 was a wild nest that hatched today. It was depredated, after hatching thankfully, and one live hatchling was found trying to make his way through the wrack. He was set free to make his way down to the water. This nest had a good hatching success rate at 90 some percent.

2021 Sea Turtle Project Update

The registration for the 2021 Sea Turtle Conservation Project is on hold until the Department of Natural Resources provides Covid guidelines to all South Carolina nesting projects.

Last Nest of this Season!

The last nest of the season has hatched. This morning Buddy and I checked it out. There were not that many tracks. Perhaps more came out earlier, but the wind blew away the evidence. More may come

A bald eagle was spotted in Zone 4

Just happened to look up and saw the eagle on the top branch of a dead tree. Since there were very few nests to check, it was a surprise to catch a look. Hope it is here to stay.
