2 Moms Nested on Hunting Island today. In Zone 3, Nest # 4 was located just North of the parking lot, above the groin, at the sand fence. This nest was relocated above where the fence had been.
In Zone 6, Nest #5 was found exposed with 19 broken eggs scattered around. Her tracks indicated she had tried to nest in one spot and was followed by a crab to were she did nest. Fortunately, the crab was not in the nest and the remaining 117 eggs in the hole were intact. We relocated the eggs above the high tide line and away from where the depredation had taken place.
In Zone 1, Diamondback terrapin tracks were seen, but no nest was found.
