Recovery Day

The day after the fourth of July is typically quiet for the nesting turtle mommas, and today was no different. There was one lone nest this morning, found in zone 2. The turtle momma spent a long time on the beach - the differenttial in her incoming and outgoing tracks was a whopping 132 feet! The differential is created when the mother comes in on the rising tide, takes several hours to lay her nest, and then leaves when the tide is falling, leaving a much longer outgoing track than the incoming one.

The morning heated up quickly, and we were happy to be off the beach early this week.
