With over one million visitors a year, litter can be a problem on the beaches and the trails. Since the beach is on the Atlantic ocean, winds also drives flotsam and jetsam on to the beach. In order to keep the park pristine, the Friends of Hunting Island have formed volunteers into litter patrols. We are looking for volunteers of all ages to roam the Park, Beach and Trails to keep them clean and litter free.
On September 6th, FOHI is sponsoring another Beach Sweep.
• Registration is 10:00am at the Lighthouse Picnic area
• The beach, trails, and shoreline will be cleaned.
• Kayakers are welcome to help clean the shoreline
Starting around noon, our long-time friends of the Lowcountry Rotary Club provided grilled items with the FOHI Social Committee providing the food. This is a family event!
