Hunting Island State Campground

The CampgroundsHunting Island’s widespread campground set along the Atlantic shoreline attracts campers with its natural beauty. Most sites have water and electrical hookups. The campground roads are paved and the sites are packed soil. There are sites for both tents and RVs, and some sites can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet.

A primitive group camping area is available for organized groups up to 100 people. (An organized group is defined as a group that holds regular meetings and has a lead officer or elected/appointed officials). The area includes picnic tables, central water, and a nearby restroom.

Eight bath houses are spread throughout the campground. The walk-in sites fill on holiday weekends but are available any weekday. The rest of the campground fills every weekend during the summer and occasionally during the week. Friends of Hunting Island & the Campgrounds

Dune BuildingCampground Playground

The Friends of Hunting Island was instrumental in the construction of the playground area in the campground. This large area is perfect for kids of all ages.

In addition, we have an ongoing project of dune building to protect the campground and picnic area. By stabilizing the sand hills with native plants, whose roots spread into complex systems that help reinforce the dunes, the sea is kept from washing out roads, parking areas, picnic tables, and campsites.
